How I can keep my Betta fish warm until you can go buy a heater for fish?

the thing is that when I bought the fish had no no idea about how to care for him until he went back to the pet store yesterday and gave me a guide line. So I went home to see and feed my fish but has not eaten the food I have given for a week and I desperately needed a heater because it is so cold in Australia at the time - but the stores are not open on Sundays! I have to wait until a couple of days until you can get the fish heater, until then I need some advice on how to keep warm.

Keep the tank in a room with no drafts, open windows, so place it near a light source, or a warmer room in the house. Try placing a lamp next to the tank, which will generate a small amount of heat as well.
