I tie flies for Fly Fishing, i recently aquirred some pheseant tail feathers and need to clean them how? ?

How badly damaged are they? if the fibers are totally ruined there no use to tie with. However its its just dirt, then some warm water with very dilute detergent should work very well. most fly fishing tackle stores actually sell a solution for cleaning feathers as they often contain small lice etc. Before you clean them add the feathers to a Ziploc freezer bag and freeze for about a month, this will kill of any parasites, then wash.
