How they got here. Experts agree that various species most likely entered the United States through two different routes. Due to the presence of certain species, experts believe that some U.S. entered using water supplied by the owners of the aquarium and some live fish through the food trade by individuals releasing these fish to establish a source local food. Currently, snakeheads are being sold in live food markets and some fish restaurants in Boston and New York. Live specimens have been confiscated by the authorities in Alabama, California, Florida, Kentucky, Texas and Washington, all states where the possession of these fish are illegal. In addition, heads snake are available for purchase through the Internet.
