Fishing Yorkshire Dales

What types of outdoors activities in North Yorkshire?
I am an American who is moving to Harrogate in North Yorkshire and I'm used to city life. From everything I am reading, the area around North Yorkshire is country (Yorkshire Dales).
.
So far, I have read about the Harrogate Harriers and another Nidd Valley runners groups that I am interested in joining that for weekly running.
But what other activities like can I expect? Are there lots of public parks
I like to Hike, creek fish, star-gaze, cross-county running, paintball, laser tag, metal detection, scavenge, beach comb, I am very adventurous and excited to move away from the Big City and the US hectic lifestyle
You can do most in North Yorkshire! Its a very rural, and very large county, stretching from the coast in areas like Scarborough & Whitby, accross the Moors fantastic for walking, to the dales, also fantastic for walking.
Basically, it contains TWO National Parks, so it's great for that. But, if you find yourself missing the city life, Harrogate's just a short hop from Leeds.
