What is the difference between the wet and dry flies when fly fishing?

This is a bit of a stupid question, but what's the difference Wet and dry flies for fly fishing i just started.

Dry flies float on the surface of the water and insects represent the final stage of life when they are flying around and lay eggs in or near water. Wet flies may indicate the ealier stages of flies, as the larva. When people say wet flies that can mean a couple of different things, that can mean nymphs (early phase error) or emergers (increase streamers of material misstatement) or even (it sucks big flies current through to represent the smaller fish or crawfish or leeches or anything that swims underwater.)
