Fly Fishing Africa

37 gallons matter density - would appreciate any advice really well informed!?
Well, I'm doing ridiculous amounts of research trying to find an interesting but the tank handle. I like the idea of cichlids, but have realized that most are too aggressive and large my tank size. I read that Kribs are smaller, less aggressive and tough. I decided to create a sort of tank around me. Also, I'm going for a type deep African theme. 37 gal / 30 inches long congo tetra June 4 cats backwards by a bristle nose cat 2 Kribs Last but not least, the book I'm reading 3 Flying Fox suggested for this type of configuration. It is assumed that they are great algae eaters and help with the process of cycling. However, I read some messages indicating that can be a nuisance in the tank. Finally, these fish prefer or tolerate moderate water that is a little on the harder side. I have well water that comes across mild / moderate once it passes through the softener. Would not that be unnatural softening process for fish? This is how smooth a substitute?
A 37 gallon is a good size tank. I like the combination. My thoughts are you add in waves over time. Start with 3 tetras. Cycle of the tank with them. Add the next three tetras and Kribs. Wait three weeks for the tank to catch up. Add two cats and the pig nose. See how things go in the coming months. Your stomach will grow and may not need more. flying fox, when big can a nuissance, but sometimes you get lucky. I would allow your other fish that was established first, and then add the flying foxes. Just as an FYI the flying fox Asia is not Africa. They like a pH range which is a comprehensive 6.0 to about 7.5 and do well in soft to moderately hard water. Your Kribs going to like softer more acidic water. In addition, make sure you get the largest variety small cats face down, some very large. If you are going for authenticity, unfortunately none of these fish routinely see each other in nature. But for a tank Africa in general, Tetras, Kribs, and the cats come from the same continent (there is a positive side of Asia for cats too.) Good luck.
