Illegal Fishing Facts

What kind of pet should my roommate and I get?
My friend and I are rooming together next year and would like to get some sort of a pet. I'd like to research it now so that I can be sure we're prepared to take care of it come next school year. Some restrictions: We'll be living in a campus apartment and therefore aren't allowed anything like a cat or a dog. All pets have to live in a tank, but we aren't allowed to have any sort of rodent. Neither of us are particularly fond of fish. I considered a turtle, but they're illegal unless you buy them out of state.
Any recommendation would be helpful.
I also want to enforce the fact that I don't plan on just buying a pet on a whimsy; I intend to fully research care and make sure that both myself and my roommate are prepared to provide a happy, healthy life for our potential pet.
Thank you!
lizards make great pets!
since you'd be in a campus apartment, it might not be such a great idea to get a big lizard with a huge tank (4ft+ for bearded dragons, uromastyx lizards etc)
but you could look into smaller things - these ones can become very friendly and docile, relatively cheap and easy to buy and care for, great fun to watch and of course they come in great colours
10 - 20 gallon tanks are good for these, or bigger if you have the space/money:

and if you dont mind them, snakes are great pets too. They need a little more space than lizards usually, but are very easy to care for ![]()
