What is GPS? Garmin hand-fishing and geocaching.?

I would buy a small GPS. , Something that can be used to locate places fishing in the water, and geocaches in Bush land. I do not necessarily want to get maps. Something easy to use and relatively inexpensive. Thanks in advance if you can help!
