Platte River

Scott contacted me a week ago after its entry into this site. We realized that we share many common philosophies and emails started flying back with fury, topped by a long telephone conversation.
Scott is an interesting guy, he studied language and his academic career with a doctorate in theology. He worked as a social activist, Ranch Hand, social activism, education higher, as an author, education and technology in Travel. He has traveled to many countries, despite having to use a wheelchair. On the way became an expert in travel for persons with disabilities and universal design, a design philosophy that makes buildings and facilities available to all people: young, old, big, small, strong, weak - not just the storm without disabilities.
1. Please tell us little more about you and your background.
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. I think I went camping once a month for each year I was in Boy Scouts and summer trips longer, canoe trips, or in camps until I started working summers on a ranch in North Platte River in Wyoming.
2. An important event occurred when the life you were 17 years of age. Please tell us
about it.
The Sunday before my 18th birthday I realized what was then the dream of my life. I was certified as a ski instructor. On Thursday morning I woke up from a biopsy of a spinal tumor paralyzed.
Three months later, I convinced my best friends who should leave the hospital and go to a concert with them. Still later, the same group of us camped outside for a week to attend the Ashland Oregon Shakespeare Festival. One day driving back to camp next to an accelerated pace of our collection in the country two-lane to ask if it was our wheelchair on the road about a mile behind.
It was, of course, and it was time I started to think: "I'm going find a new way of packing for travel. I suppose that every trip will now adventure tourism.
3. You are an adventurer who describes himself and have traveled to many places
Since you became disabled. Tell us which destinations
visited and some of their experiences.
In college, I studied in Brazil for a semester, but I actually made the conscious decision not to travel as much as I could have when I came back to follow the path of a social activist during the 1970s and 1980s. I took a little step with the units of cross-country a train trip across Canada and travel school in England and Wales. Mexico was the route that my wife and I took a group of students in a service project. In fact, I won a free week in Kauai, in the days leading suppliers of equipment would Disability Zodiac Tours in the Na Pali coast.
Recently, a lot of travel combines research on the accessibility of destination and travel to Austria, Slovakia, New Zealand, and one day in Argentina. I had the chance to explore Australia, Taiwan, Japan and Brazil during their visits to speak Inclusive tourism in these countries. I want to take on the invitations to Nepal, Thailand and Romania.
4. Please share with us their three favorite travel memories of all time.
My favorite of all Time is a story of compassion towards me as a student while living in Brazil.
A little history first.
In ore rich Brazilian state of Minas Gerais rich sponsored the construction of numerous chapels and commissioned works during the colonial period. Most famous architect and artisan of the time was a disabled man known as "Alejadinho." One day, en route to visit its most famous site Congonhas I asked three women who beg in front of the church, the best way to get into my wheelchair. Instead of answering all the places I put the income of a full day and went, despite my protests. No believeThat I can be richer it appeared at that time.
I also remember being afraid of death as the water volcano blew a plume of steam a few feet before us in the boiler. Guatemala My friend had just finished weaving a yarn about how the god of the volcano did not like "gringos".
It tops my list is a memory much quieter. The Count seems bland, I suppose. Part of my doctoral work was conducted in Oxford, England. Meeting my colleagues was inspiring. One in particular has had a life changing impact on me. What most remember is that each day a small group of friends I won two miles - then returned to their own homes.
5. What are the challenges an individual's unique Travel with a disability? How
Travel destinations accessible to travelers with disabilities today?
The quality information about sites and services accessible is the key. Disabled people travel by word of mouth recommendation more than other segments I say market. Karting batteries for hearing aids, medications emergency spare parts for electric wheelchairs and speech synthesizers can be part of the logistics task.
Some countries like Jamaica, do not let you enter with a service dog. Several hotel chains, beautifully accessible in the United States apparently do not want our money in some of the most popular tourist destinations. Too bad for them from the online poll commissioned by the Harris Organization Opened in 2002 and again in 2005 documents that people with disabilities traveling in increasing numbers. United States alone who are over 46 million spend more $ 13 billion annually on travel. Also report regularly as we travel more if options were available.

South Platte River $66.91 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The South Platte River, is one of the two principal tributaries of the Platte River and itself a major river of the American West, located in the U.S. states of Colorado and Nebraska. Its drainage basin includes much of the eastern flank of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado; much of the populated region known as the Colorado Front Range and Eastern Plains; and a portion of southeastern Wyoming in the vicinity of the city of Cheyenne. It joins the North Platte River in western Nebraska to form the Platte, which then flows across Nebraska to the Missouri. The river serves as the principal source of water for eastern Colorado. In its valley along the foothills in Colorado, it has permitted agriculture in an area of the Colorado Piedmont and Great Plains that is otherwise arid.
