Salt Water Fishing On The Shore - BlueFish and Striped Bass?

I will be going to our Beach House down at the Chesapeake Bay sometime soon.

I've always fished on the shore and caught great amounts of white perch, spot fish, croaker, and sometimes, small blue fish and small striped bass (which I obviously release)

What can I do to catch HUGE blue fish and striped bass fishing on shore?

I would prefer to use bait (squid, shrimp, blood worms, and so forth) instead of fishing a lure, which I primarily do for freshwater.

Any advice would be great! I've only tried shrimp and blood worms before. Is there some other bait that seems to work better for bluefish and striped bass?

How would you cut up the bait (if needed)? How much should I use?

Thanks for your help!

in the bay the biggest blues you will catch will be 15"-20". stripers can be bigger in the spring but this time of year the max size will be about 25" with most being 12"-20".

for bluefish the best baits would be fresh cut spot of fresh peanut bunker. for stripers whole bloodworms are the best. you will need to cast far so the spot and perch won't mess with the bw's
