Small black line on betta fish fin; parasite or not?

Hi,

I have a growing betta fish and until recently there was never a small black line (a little thick, looks some like a smaller-version of a black sprinkle) on her left fin. I was wondering if I should be concerned for a parasite... she is very vivatious, no sign of complications.

Most likely it is not a parasite. As fish grow they tend to grow new lines, coloration, or patterns. I wouldn't worry about it too much just make sure to change your water frequently, and check for classic signs of a parasite. Is the fish scratching the substrate? Slow moving perhaps? Change in eating habits? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, then you should observe your betta more closely.
