How I can know if going to snow?
Ok before the Smart-Alecks tell me to go see the weather forecast let me point out that the United Kingdom met office can not be trusted. Anyone remember 1987? Quote from Michael Fish BBC weather presenter "Earlier on today apparently one woman called the BBC and said she heard there was a hurricane on the way, well, if you're watching, do not worry, no, but having said that, in fact, time will become very windy, but most of the strong winds, by the way, down more than Spain and especially in France "What followed was the worst storm to hit the UK in over 250 years. but my cynicism in the case of snow forecast here in Bournemouth is due to the fact that every time the Office Weather forecast for snow, all we have is very cold rain. So given that on a particular day, forecasters have predicted the possibility snow, is there any way of looking at clouds, etc. and saying if you are snow before it happens?
Being from the U.S., there would be a definite answer, since no personally know the local geography, which may have something to do with it. However, there is really no way of looking at the clouds to say that is not completely obvious already. 1.) If you have low cloud layers ... those are the precipitation of childbearing generally. The difference between the snow and cold rain that we are talking about is the temperature at surface. You need to have low temperatures almost all the way to the surface in order to get the snow to fall. The cold rain you get is snow made, while the clouds, however, if warmer air is below the cloud, the snowflake melts and rain falls as you describe. Therefore, the higher elevations tend to receive more snow, less hot air, while if it is in the valley, rain is most likely due to the largest layer of warm air. 2.) The Another possibility is that the local meteorologists are the "will-casting" and almost in the hope of snow, which can be especially human nature for those in time. This can happen is about winter, but I hope you settle down when the winter is in full force.
